Moffat Rally
Originally known as the Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts rally, and organised by The Scottish Rootes Enthusiasts club. The Moffat Classic Car Rally was first held in 1998 Under the leadership of Gordon Bisset. Originally for Rootes Group vehicles, it was not long before other enthusiasts requested a class for non-Rootes vehicles, and the show soon found itself in the position of having to limit entries to 900 vehicles due to the space available. During this period a considerable sum has been raised by the event for Cancer Charities.
Having assisted in the running of the event for a number of years the Moffat & District Motor Club were invited by Gordon, to take over the organisation of the event. To enable them to carry out this role they “teamed up” with the Galloway Motorcycle Club to promote the show.
Held on the last weekend in June the Saturday rally event consists of a scenic run by Tweedsmuir, Tala and Megget reservoirs, returning by St. Mary’s Loch and the Grey Mares Tail to Moffat.
On the Sunday there is a static display with vehicles assembling from 0830hrs. in the main show fields, including Individual entries, Car Club entries, Motorcycle entries and children’s fairground rides.
On both days there are Autojumble stalls and parking is free.
Our event nominated charity is Macmillan Cancer support.
